Collaborative Divorce and Mediation in Montana
A negotiated resolution can protect privacy, reduce disruption, and give you more control over the terms of your future. It works best when you understand your finances, know your priorities, and have counsel prepared to ask difficult questions. Matrium Law Group approaches settlement with the same discipline it brings to litigation.
Mediation is a process, not a promise
A mediator helps parties work toward agreement; the mediator does not act as either party’s advocate. We help you prepare proposals, review financial information, assess alternatives, and evaluate the terms before you agree. Lili Panarella is a certified mediator and has experience conducting pro bono family law mediations. For each engagement, we clarify whether her role is client advocate or neutral mediator; those roles are distinct.
Consider whether collaboration fits your case
Collaborative divorce is a structured approach that depends on voluntary participation, reliable disclosure, and a commitment to negotiated resolution. Participation terms, including any requirement to change counsel if the process ends, deserve close review. We help assess fit and availability before recommending this path. It may not suit a case involving concealment, intimidation, or unwillingness to engage in good faith.
Prepare the financial and parenting details
Business interests, retirement benefits, the family home, support, and parenting schedules need more than broad agreement. We work through the documents and practical terms so that a settlement addresses implementation as well as intent. Lili’s previous ERISA and employee-benefits legal practice informs the review of retirement-related proposals.
Negotiate from preparation and informed choice
You should not feel pressured to accept terms simply to end a difficult day. We identify objectives, analyze the unresolved issues, and prepare for the possibility that agreement will not be reached. Safety concerns and coercive dynamics must be assessed before mediation proceeds. Litigation readiness supports informed choices; it does not require creating conflict when a sound agreement is available.
Nearly 30 years of legal experience. Disciplined preparation. Trial readiness.
Lili Panarella represents clients throughout Montana, including Missoula, Hamilton, Kalispell, Bozeman, and Billings.
